Halloween Monster Bash to host drive-through fun

Annual event will go on -- with a twist

This year the city of Peoria’s annual Halloween Monster Bash has a new twist – it will be a drive-through experience with interactive elements and treats from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 N. 83rd Ave.

Guests can get a pumpkin and other surprises, hear music and see a variety of ghostly entertainment.

“For this year’s Halloween event, we really tried hard to create an experience that was both entertaining and safe for families to enjoy,” Peoria’s arts and events manager Marylou Stephens stated in a news release. “The drive-through concept gives us the flexibility to put on a fun show while providing a safe place for kids to still get dressed up and collect goodies. We hope that our residents will put the Peoria Sports Complex on their list of fun stops on Oct. 24.”

The Halloween Monster Bash has been an annual event for 44 years. The drive-through event will feature several family friendly, Halloween stations in the parking lot, including giant inflatables, goodie bags of candy or trinkets for those with food allergies, and Halloween contest winners on a giant TV screen.

Throughout October leading up to the Halloween Monster Bash, residents submit pictures or videos for the costume contest, pumpkin carving contest and house decorating contest at peoriaaz.gov/specialevents.

Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place in each contest. Categories include cutest, scariest, funniest, and most original costumes for the kids category; best family costume, best pet costume, funniest pumpkin, scariest pumpkin, most creative pumpkin, scariest house, coolest house and funniest house.

Winners will be announced at the Halloween Monster Bash on the big screen TV. Winners will contacted about when and where to pick up their trophies.
