'Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella' is playing at Arizona Broadway Theatre

Step into a world where dreams do come true as Arizona Broadway Theatre brings your favorite pair of glass slippers to the stage this summer with "Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella," running through July 26.

Nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Book of a Musical and Best Musical Revival, "Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella" tells the tale of a girl who learns to believe in what’s possible, according to a news release. The story is set in a kingdom ruled by a well-intentioned but misaligned prince who through trials and tribulations, learns that treating people with compassion and empathy is the way to successfully rule the land.

The story follows Ella, a young woman who lost her father and now lives as a servant to her wickedly cruel stepmother and stepsisters. With the help of her Fairy Godmother, she attends the royal ball where she captures the heart of not only the prince, but the audience as well. Ella is empowered, strong and a role model for others in the kingdom to search for their true selves.

“'Rodgers and Hammerstein’s adaptation of Cinderella' puts a new spin on the beloved fairytale that continues to enchant audiences year after year with its timeless themes of kindness, love and the power of dreams,” said Kurtis Overby, artistic director at Arizona Broadway Theatre. “It is the perfect princess musical with a modern-day twist that is captivating for people of all ages.”

The Arizona Broadway Theatre cast includes Chelsea Udoye as Cinderella, Christopher Arellano as Prince Topher, Devorah (DJ) Coon as Charlotte, Darren Friedman as Sebastian, Ivana Martinic as the Fairy Godmother, Karsten Lane Flake as Gabriella, Andrew Hendrick as Pinkelton, Ben Thomas Strong as Jean-Michel and Kim Abrams as Madame.

Arizona Broadway Theatre provides an all-encompassing experience combining dining and entertainment, the release states. For each show, an award-winning chef and culinary team create a custom food and beverage menu to complement the production.

Tickets can be purchased now at www.AZBROADWAY.org, in person, by contacting the box office daily between 10 a.m.– 3 p.m. at 623-776-8400 or by email at info@AZBROADWAY.org.
