Country Meadows Park in Peoria gets refresh

Posted

Country Meadows Park, 11098 W. Butler Drive, received a refresh earlier this year, and on June 19 had a ribbon cutting to celebrate the update.

New amenities include: xeriscape demonstration garden with mural, landscape refresh throughout, fitness stations at walking paths, an airnasium over the basketball court for shade, enhanced park and pathway lighting, new inclusive playground features, GagaBall pit, four-square and hopscotch, expanded shade at the playground, refreshed paint at picnic ramadas and new site furniture.

Councilmember Denette Dunn, who represents the district where the park is located, asked neighborhood youth to join her in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

“This is your park and it was created for you based on your family’s needs and feedback,” she said. “It is so very nice to see our community coming together. The new basketball courts are being used more now with the addition of the new Airnasium which has added much needed shade. By providing our community with these new amenities they now have a fun and healthy place to gather. This makes a big difference when youth from all walks of life can gather to learn teamwork.”
