Time to start cookin’ with Arizona Broadway Theatre — The Spitfire Grill is opening Aug. 13.
Recently released from a five-year prison sentence for manslaughter, Percy Talbot finds her second chance working at the Spitfire Grill. The grill is for sale, but there are no takers for the only eatery in the depressed town.
With Percy’s future hanging in the balance, she convinces the owner to raffle it off with an essay contest. Soon, mail arrives by the wheelbarrow, and things really start cooking at the Spitfire Grill.
With its roots in blues and folk music, this soaring score creates a musical triumph that celebrates second chances and the lasting impact one person can make in a life, according to a news release.
Don’t miss this one-of- a-kind, state-of-the-art professional theater showcasing locally and nationally acclaimed artists, the release said.
The cast includes Gretta Perlmutter, Marina Blue Jarrette, Nicholas Hambruch, Barbara McBain, Carolyn McPhee, Darren Friedman, and Tim Shawver.
The production is directed by Danny Gorman and assistant directed by Ken Urso, with music direction by Adam Berger.
