Football players and parents from Centennial High School, 14388 N. 79th Ave., joined with incoming Peoria Unified School District superintendent Dr. Jason Reynolds June 6 to pack donations at St. Mary’s Food Bank.

“Coyote Pride is all about stepping up, serving, and leading,” Centennial stated on its Facebook page. “Thanks to the Packbackers for organizing service opportunities for our Coyotes.”

St. Mary’s, 2831 N. 31st Ave., notes that one in four children in Arizona lives in poverty and is at risk of going to bed hungry tonight. Arizona ranks 47th out of 50 states in the number of children who may not know where their next meal is coming from.

St. Mary’s collaborates with more than 100 schools and community centers to provide about 3,000 backpacks per week to families across the state.
