Become a lifelong learner with Peoria Unified's new academy

Peoria Unified is launching the Lifelong Learners Academy and inviting residents who live in the Peoria Unified School District but may not have school-age children at home to participate.

Throughout the accelerated academy, adult participants will learn from district leaders, engage with community partners, and experience what school is like for the 35,000 students enrolled in the Peoria Unified School District. Courses will focus on the district’s history, school finance, academics, support for community growth, the Strategic Plan and more.

Those who attend the Lifelong Learner Academy can expect to meet once a month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Sept. 23, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 9. Upon graduation, attendees will have a more in-depth knowledge about Peoria Unified and can better understand the relationship between the district and its stakeholders. Each session will include a tour of a campus and a presentation on the topic by an expert.

Those interested in attending Peoria Unified’s Lifelong Learners Academy should sign up here.

Approximately 70% of those who live within the district’s boundaries do not have school age children living at home and Peoria Unified wants all stakeholders to feel like valued members of the district, even if they do not have students in district schools.
