Be safe around fireworks in Peoria
Posted
The Peoria Fire-Medical Department encourages city residents to be safe around fireworks this New Year’s Eve.
Consumer fireworks for the New Year's holiday can be purchased until Jan. 3, 2021.
Permissible consumer fireworks can then be used through Jan. 3, 2021.
There are several limitations on where fireworks can be used within the city of Peoria (City Code, Chapter 9 - Fire Prevention and Protection, section 9-46 through 9-53).
Fireworks cannot be used on city property, including parks, city streets and city sidewalks. They also cannot be used on state land or school property, unless a permit has been issued.
Aerial and explosive fireworks are not permissible.
