Automobile collision in Peoria results in fatality

A traffic collision in Peoria near 79th and Peoria avenues has resulted in a fatality.

Peoria Police and Peoria Fire-Medical responded to the collision 3:37 p.m., April 9. It involved two vehicles: a white 2006 Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle and a white 2020 Toyota Camry.

Preliminary investigations show the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Peoria Avenue as it approached 79th Avenue. The motorcycle rear-ended the Toyota Camry that was stopped in traffic.

The rider sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The rider has been identified as 22-year-old Cristofer Paz Gutirrez, from Glendale.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was not injured from this collision. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with this investigation.

The Peoria Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit is investigating this incident.
