Appointments available for Peoria household hazardous waste collection

The city of Peoria will begin scheduling appointments for the collection of household hazardous waste on Monday, Oct. 2.

Collection begins Monday, Oct. 16 and will conclude Friday, Nov. 3.

Acceptable Items:

  • Household chemicals marked dangerous
  • Paint thinners
  • Pesticides/insecticides
  • Oil based paint (limit five gallons per household)
  • Rechargeable batteries
  • Auto batteries
  • Gasoline (limit five gallons per household)
  • Motor oil (limit five gallons per household)
  • Antifreeze (limit five gallons per household)
  • Aerosol cans

Unacceptable Items:

  • Ammunition
  • Appliances
  • Electronics
  • Radioactive materials
  • Explosives
  • Medical waste
  • Prescription drugs
  • Sharps
  • Commercial waste
  • Latex paint
  • Tires

The next hazardous waste appointment scheduling will be Jan. 16.
