Thomasson: My support for Stanton, Moore in Paradise Valley election

Posted

Each one of your Paradise Valley Town Councilmembers is a committed, hard-working professional with a shared passion for preserving our quality of life and low-density residential character.

As we look to our post-pandemic future with revenue shortfalls, pressure to rent out and develop our once rural community, and unfortunately, litigation from the Ritz-Carlton/Five Star Development, we need a Town Council willing to work together, without grand standing, for our entire community.

When I consider the coming Town Council election, leadership qualities drive my support of council colleagues Mark Stanton and Scott Moore.

In 30 years of Fortune 500 consulting, I’ve had the honor of working with many great leaders who all share key qualities and skills I see in Mark and Scott.

For the past two years, I’ve watched them work hard to find the best solutions for our town, serving with thoughtfulness and humility.

Mark’s perspective as a business advocate, his experience with government and his very balanced and thoughtful approach to all issues is deeply appreciated.

Scott’s encyclopedic knowledge of planning and zoning issues and his ability to work on the details with residents, town staff and fellow councilmembers is invaluable.

Both Mark Stanton and Scott Moore fight equally for the rights of all residents whether they live next to a resort, on a mountain, or on a flat 1-acre parcel.

They listen more than they talk and give more credit to colleagues than they seek for themselves. They both respect the distinct roles of staff, board/committee members and council and are humble enough to listen to all perspectives and trust people to do their jobs.

While holding others accountable, they are the councilmembers who work with colleagues and staff to get things done. I appreciate that Mark and Scott seek to lift others up and see success as the effort of a team, not an individual.

I am grateful for their leadership on council. They are not the loudest councilmembers, but instead work hard behind the scenes while staying crisply focused on the issues.

They are men of deep integrity who are competent, humble, knowledgeable volunteers working for the long-term benefit of the town.

Please join me in voting for Mark Stanton and Scott Moore.
