Chief Freeman Carney recently swore in three individuals for Paradise Valley Police Department, two newly hired employees and one patrol officers who was promoted to detective.

First up is Mark Janda, who joins the team as a new photo enforcement technician. He retired as a police officer in 2020 after serving over 20 years with the ASU Police Department. A longtime Arizona resident, Janda is an avid motorcycle rider and a creative spirit whose hobbies include photography, painting, drawing, sewing and 3D printing, according to an announcement provided by Community Resource Officer Jimmy Phan.

“We are thrilled to welcome him to our photo enforcement team,” the announcement stated.

Officer Charlotte Madrid has been selected as one of the team’s newest detectives.

“She brings over seven years of experience from the Las Vegas Metro PD, along with specialized training from numerous investigative courses,” the announcement said. “Please join us in congratulating Charlotte on her new role as detective.”

Officer Wayne Crenshaw is PVPD’s newest police officer. Crenshaw was sworn in and pinned by his wife during the ceremony.

“Wayne comes to us with over 16 years of experience from Scottsdale PD, where he most recently served as a motorcycle officer dedicated to public safety,” the announcement said. “We are excited to welcome him to our department. Please join us in celebrating and welcoming these incredible individuals to our team.”
