A man has been arrested and booked into county jail for attempted burglary and trespassing on a Paradise Valley residential property, police say.

On Saturday, May 23, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Paradise Valley Police Department officers responded to an attempted burglary and trespass in progress in the 4800 block of East Berneil Drive.

A homeowner observed a male suspect, Kahlan Ross Joiner, walking in their backyard and peering into the back windows of their home, according to police officials.

The homeowner confronted Joiner and told him to leave. Joiner then went to the front door of the residence and was confronted by the homeowner again.
This time, Joiner demanded the keys to the homeowner’s vehicle that was parked in the driveway, police say.

The homeowner was able to close the front door and call 911.

Joiner fled the area on foot and officers located him in a nearby desert area.

He was taken into custody and then booked into the Maricopa County 4th Avenue jail on numerous felony charges.
