Phoenix Art Museum features Nia Vardalos at benefit event

Valley residents can spend "An Evening with Nia Vardalos" when the Phoenix Art Museum hosts a special event to support The Center for the Rights of Abused Children 5-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at 1625 N. Central Ave.

There will be cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and reflections from those on the front lines of this life-changing work.

Tickets are $150, with $100 directly protecting children in crisis through daily courtroom advocacy and stronger child-protection laws. There is free parking outside of the museum entrance. Evening attire is cocktail/business casual. Gather for cocktails at 5 p.m.; the program starts at 6 p.m.

Vardalos is an Academy Award–nominated actress, screenwriter and the star of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.” She is also an advocate for children and the author of “Instant Mom,” which chronicles her journey through foster care and adoption.
