The Paradise Valley Police Department and Mike Cummiskey, event sponsor and owner of Paradise Valley Wealth Management, teamed up once again to provide shredding services for town residents on Saturday, April 23, at the town’s municipal complex.
AZStRUT was also on hand to collect recyclable electronics.
In total, 189 residents drove through and had 10,380 pounds of documents shredded on-site. The lines of cars were very short throughout the morning, according to a press release, which is due primarily to the easy on-line appointment scheduling system.
Donations totaled $2,754 according to Sergeant Joe DiVenti of the PVPD, who was big help at the event along with several police volunteers. Because the event is 100% sponsored by Cummiskey, all the donations will directly go to Angels on Patrol, a 501(c)(3) organization selected by the PVPD. 4
Angels on Patrol supports officer-initiated assistance for people in crisis situations.
AZStRUT reported collecting 2,005 pounds of electronics including:
- Printers: 5
- Desktops: 4
- Laptops: 23
- Mobile phones: 67
- Tablets: 9
- Cameras: 11
- LCD panels: 5
- TVs: 3
- Rear projection TV: 1
The group plans to shred again in the fall, encouraging residents to be on the look for the next event in October or November.
