Paradise Valley church to hold annual Cooks’ Tour

Valley Presbyterian Church will host the 50th annual Cooks’ Tour between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, on its campus at 6947 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley.

This one-day event, for worldwide missions and local charities, is sponsored by Presbyterian Women, according to a press release, detailing events that will help celebrate the milestones from the past 50 years. The general co-chairs for Cooks’ Tour are Jeanne Campo, Wandie Hulick and Sandra Gonzales.

The real joy of Cooks’ Tour turns “crafts and treasures into blessings and support for mission causes,” the release said of money raised at different parts of the event like the silent auction or rummage sale, which address needs locally and globally.

Over the past 49 years Cooks’ Tour has raised over $1 million to support various needs, according to the release.

Proceeds have benefited organizations such as:

  • Audrey’s Angels—Music program impacting 1,400 elderly residents;
  • Coronado High School Student Government—Leadership Scholarships;
  • Helping Hands for Single Moms—AAA towing memberships;
  • Medical Benevolence Foundation—Medical care for women and babies, Hospital Sainte Croix;
  • MentorKids USA—South Phoenix Christian Summer Enrichment Program scholarships;
  • Ministry of Hope—High school scholarships for girls in Malawi;
  • Monte Vista Homes—Donation towards a new memory care unit;
  • Sky Harbor Interfaith Chaplain—Help provide a full-time chaplain;
  • Valley Day School—student scholarships;
  • VPC Family Ministry—new technology to welcome visitors and members.

Activities on campus will include a luncheon prepared by Sandra Gonzales of Whisk & Chop; rummage sale; silent auction; costume jewelry sale; craft boutique; kitchen treasures; as well as a complimentary tea table.

The luncheon will be served between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tickets for lunch, $20 each, will be available for purchase from 10 a.m. to noon on weekdays, starting Oct. 1 in the church office, noted the release.

Tickets may also be ordered at vpc.church/cooks or by calling the church, 480-991-6424. Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted.
