Mickey Lowe celebrates 100th birthday

Posted

Centenarian Mickey Lowe celebrated her 100th birthday on July 5 with a welcomed display of love and drive-by fanfare.

Honey Gould, co-founder of Honeysblooms, which sets up elaborate installations outside of homes, was contacted about two months in advance to handle the exterior decor for the celebration.

“We agreed to put the date in the calendar and kept in touch,” said Ms. Gould of her initial conversation with the birthday girl’s daughter, Patricia Law.

Ms. Law arranged a drive by with about 50 cars lined up around the block and had a parade for the centenarian who resides in north central Phoenix with family after moving from Nogales in 1998 where she lived for many years.

“As July 5th approached, we had big ideas for a ‘100’ celebration. Needless to say, the COVID pandemic made us modify our plans.

A parade with many friends and beautiful decorations from Honeysblooms made for a memorable evening for Mickey and a fun time for all participants,” Ms. Law said.

She noted how befitting the event was for the longtime homemaker whose life has been filled with spending time with family, friends and volunteering.

“It was an emotional celebration,” Ms. Gould said. “It was an incredible sight to see.”

Honeysblooms, based in Paradise Valley, captures people’s attention with bespoke handmade creations such as decorative lawn arrangements.

Custom-made orders come in many colors, shapes, arrangements and more with everything from life-sized five-foot letters and numbers to props for all special occasions or whatever a client wants for a memorable visual constructed that can even be from silk flowers.
