Memorial Day weekend free of freeway work in Arizona

Posted

PHOENIX –  No closures along state highways are scheduled over the Memorial Day weekend.

The Arizona Department of Transportation encourages drivers to remain alert, particularly near existing construction zones,  but crews will not be working on projects from Friday afternoon, May 23, until  late Monday night, May 26.

Drivers should be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through work zones, including the Interstate 17 Improvement Project between Anthem Way and Sunset Point north of Phoenix, according to ADOT.   Motorists also should be prepared for unscheduled highway closures due to crashes, disabled vehicles or other incidents such as wildfires.

Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov, the AZ511 app and by calling 511. ADOT also provides highway condition updates via its X/Twitter feed, @ArizonaDOT.
