JoJo Coffeehouse Breakfast & Brunch: blending coffee, community, and live music

Posted

JoJo Coffeehouse Breakfast & Brunch, a six-year staple in Old Town Scottsdale, offers a welcoming coffee-focused atmosphere and live music on weekends.

Founded by entrepreneur Michael Melton, JoJo Coffeehouse combines his passions for music, food, and community, featuring a proprietary coffee blend and a menu of fresh ingredients sourced from local vendors.

The restaurant’s design reflects an upscale beach vibe, providing a bright and airy space that invites patrons to enjoy breakfast and brunch while connecting with friends and local music artists.

JoJo Coffeehouse serves as a gathering place for friends and families, creating a sense of community where everyone feels at home and connected over great coffee and shared experiences.

Melton's journey to founding JoJo Coffeehouse began with a vision to create a space that fused his love for coffee, food, and community.

After selling his successful marketing company, he took the time to reflect on what truly mattered to him.

Recognizing a gap in the market for a welcoming breakfast and brunch spot centered around quality coffee and a sense of belonging, Melton reached out to his youngest brother, Andy, to join him in this venture.

“I decided that I wanted to open up a breakfast and brunch restaurant that was coffee-focused, and it’s been amazing to see that dream come true,” Melton said.

Together, they sought to develop a unique atmosphere that would not only serve great food but also cultivate connections among patrons, Melton said.

“For the first couple of years, we were like two blind guys boxing. We didn't know what we were doing, but once we figured it out, we grew it,” he said.

The intentional design of JoJo Coffeehouse encourages guests to engage, making each visit not just about the coffee, but about the shared experience, Melton said.

“JoJo is a place that connects people. The coffee vibe allows them to talk to each other and build a real community,” Melton said.

Live music plays a vital role in inviting guests to relax and enjoy their time at JoJo Coffeehouse, enriching the overall experience.

“We wanted to incorporate the culture of music into our coffeehouse vibe. It feels almost like you’re hanging out at someone’s house,” Melton said.

Emphasizing quality and uniqueness, JoJo Coffeehouse takes pride in its proprietary coffee blend, crafted to offer a distinctive flavor profile. This attention to detail ensures that every cup served not only meets but exceeds customer expectations, further establishing JoJo as a beloved spot for coffee enthusiasts, according to Melton.

“We went through a third-party roaster to create our own proprietary blend, which features balanced flavors with slight chocolate notes,” he said.

Melton’s philosophy for JoJo Coffeehouse revolves around not only providing an exceptional product but also an exceptional experience for both customers and employees.

“My mindset behind it is I want to give five-star service to all customers and all employees... It’s about getting 1% better every day,” Melton said.

Melton’s philosophy for JoJo Coffeehouse revolves around not only providing an exceptional product but also an exceptional experience for both customers and employees, he said.

The culture at JoJo Coffeehouse is rooted in hospitality and community, as expressed by Emma Johnson, HR operations manager, who began her journey as a server shortly after the restaurant opened.

“JoJo Coffeehouse is a company based around true hospitality and meaningful relationships. It cares deeply about the experience of the customer, the well-being of its employees, and the heart of the community,” Johnson said.

She emphasized that JoJo is not just another breakfast spot but a place where patrons feel valued and appreciated.

“JoJo brings the community together to enjoy moments of laughter, music, and heartfelt service,” Johnson said.
