Joanne T. (Szromba) Remar

Joanne, 93, of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of Riverview, FL and Chicago, IL, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022.
Joanne grew up in Chicago, IL and attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grammar and High School. Her full-time employment included various jobs at Goldblatt’s, Continental Casualty, Federal Electric and Marshall Fields. While Joanne and her late husband, Al, raised their family in Hegewisch, IL, she worked part-time at Magic Oven Bakery and Aniol Hardware. She was also employed at Edward C. Minas Company as a seamstress, tailoring clothing for both men and women. Joanne and Al then moved to Riverview, FL where they enjoyed retirement and became involved in square dancing and cruise ship travel.
After relocating to Sun City West, AZ in 2005, Joanne became a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Women’s Guild. She joined the Sun City West Bowling League, the Macroknit Club, and Wii Bowling. After her husband passed away, she became a member of the Sassy Singles.
In 2017, Joanne moved to The Heritage Tradition and became an Ambassador, welcoming new residents to independent living. She was an active resident, known to many at The Heritage.
Joanne organized and ran the Bunco Club. She volunteered her time, reporting lighting issues to the Maintenance Staff and prepping napkins and silverware for dining room service. She loved sewing, crocheting, crafts and reading suspense novels.
Joanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Albert J. Remar; by brother Leon (Randi) Szromba, and sister Felicia (late Eugene) Pancer. Joanne is survived by two daughters, Suzette Wright (Craig Mcauslan), and Audette (Wayne) Garritano; two sons, Alan Remar (Jolene Racine) and Roy Remar; three grandchildren, Anthony (Melissa) Garritano, Brianne Garritano, and Royce Remar; two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Sofia Garritano; by her brother, David (Bonnie) Szromba; and many nieces and nephews.
Interment will take place at Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center in Sun City West, AZ with a Celebration of Life to be held at a future date.
