JFCS has emergency assistance for individuals, businesses

Jewish Family & Children’s Service is experiencing an urgent demand for services from the community and has created an emergency assistance fund.

Since the pantries, according to a press release, are completely depleted, the nonprofit --- dedicated to strengthening the community by providing behavioral health, healthcare and social services to all ages, faiths and backgrounds --- is providing financial assistance to community members in need.

“The outpouring of love and support from our community members has been truly remarkable,” said Gail Baer, JFCS vice president, in a prepared statement.

“We created the Emergency Assistance Fund so individuals and organizations have an avenue to provide financial assistance to community members in need.”

In addition to supporting JFCS programs and services by contributing to the Emergency Assistance Fund, community members can also get involved by supporting the following:

JFCS Just 3 Things Food Pantry
The pantry accepts donations including non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, and personal care items at the administrative office and online through the Amazon Wish List , which can be shipped directly to JFCS. The administrative office at 4747 N 7th Street, Suite 100 in Phoenix, will accept donations from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.

JFCS Back to School Program
In addition to school supplies needed for current homeschooling students, families need clothing and supplies for when children are back in school. JFCS created a list of recommended donations by grade. Donations can be made to the administrative office.

Youth Art Program Supplies
The youth need art activity kits for home use, allowing them to engage in art stimulation while maintaining safe social distancing. The administrative office will accept donations of new or gently used arts supplies such as crayons, board games and color books. A list of recommended art supplies is available on the JFCS website.

JFCS Caring Cards Program

JFCS has instructions on how to create a caring card on the JFCS website especially since homebound older adults value handwritten notes and letters; so, a personally written note is meaningful.

Volunteer
Volunteers are the lifeline of many charity organizations, including JFCS, which has socially distant volunteer opportunities available on the JFCS site at jfcsaz.org/volunteer.

JFCS delivers vital services to vulnerable neighbors in the community, according to the release.

For assistance with the following:

  • Behavioral health and primary medical care, call 602-256-0528.
  • Jewish Community Services, call 602-452-4627.
  • Administration and other inquiries, call 602-279-7655.
  • Domestic violence services, call 602-452-4640 (English); or 602-534-3087 (Spanish).

Jewish Family & Children’s Service is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization committed to core Jewish values that are noted to honor community and the continuity of the generations.
