Janik: Sharkey, Lewis and Pittinsky have the experience

As we approach the upcoming SUSD governing board election, it is vital that we carefully consider the two different slates of candidates who will guide the future of our education system. The choices we make will directly affect the quality of education for our children, the working environment for teachers and the success of our local schools in preparing students for an increasingly complex world.
Our city’s future economic health and property values rely on our neighborhood schools. In this race, one clear distinction has emerged between the candidates: Experience. While the enthusiasm of newcomers is commendable, I believe the stakes are too high to gamble on inexperience. Hence, I am endorsing Mike Sharkey, Donna Lewis and Matt Pittinsky.
Mike Sharkey is an SUSD parent and volunteer who works as a data analyst at ASU. Donna Lewis is a retired teacher, principal and award-winning district superintendent. Matt Pittinsky, another SUSD parent, has founded two successful education tech companies employing hundreds of Scottsdale citizens.
All three “SLP” members of the Protect SUSD slate have managed complex budgets, numerous employees and have proven entrepreneurial, business and management backgrounds. They bring a wealth of knowledge with their combined five postgraduate degrees and a deep understanding of how our school system operates. Their experience isn’t just an advantage. It’s a necessity. Navigating the financial realities of public education, especially in a time when budgets are strained, is not something to be learned on the job. They require strategic decision-making grounded in experience. Sharkey, Lewis and Pittinsky meet all the requirements our community needs. Vote for three. Vote SLP for SUSD – Sharkey, Lewis and Matt.
