FHT moves Drive-In performance to June 11-13

Fountain Hills Theater announces its first post-shutdown production and first live “Drive-In” Broadway revue, June 11-13.

The first post-shutdown production, Broadway Drive-in Theater, according to a press release, will be an outdoor production adhering to social distancing protocol.

Tickets from the postponed June 4-6 production will be honored, the release said.

Fountain Hills Theater, 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. in Fountain Hills, will be the setting for a live, parking lot stage as attendees remain in their vehicles with sound broadcast on an FM closed-circuit radio signal for the whole family to tune into the Broadway Drive-in Theatre.

The FHT staff conceived the idea as a way to ensure “the show must go on,” during challenging times.

“After having been shuttered since March 26, it is only natural that our patrons and actors throughout the Valley are craving social interaction, yet will hesitate to participate in social gatherings as our state reopens. Broadway Drive-in Theatre is our exciting contribution to begin easing back with a one-of-a-kind experience for both performers and audience,” said FHT Artistic/Technical Director Peter J. Hill in a prepared statement.

Reminescent of past drive-in movie theatres, with what is described as an “important twist,” Broadway Drive-in Theatre attendees will have the live production from the comfort of their vehicles while enjoying some of the Valley’s best performers to entertain on the specially-constructed outdoor stage, the release said.

Provided by sponsor, Kern Entertainment, Hit Broadway and pop tunes will be sung by favorite FHT performers, including Jennifer Adams, Jesse Berger, Kathleen Berger, Summer Beckman, Victoria Fairclough, Alex Gonzalez, Nicholas Hambruch, Peter J. Hill, Noél Irick, Leah Klein, Britt Powell, Kim Rickels, Sophia Vanella, and Michael Wallot.

The cost is $30 per vehicle and limited to 30 vehicles per performance, the release noted.

Tickets are not available in person but online at fhtaz.org.
