Bob Parsons offers workers $1K to get COVID-19 vaccine, flu shot

Posted

During a company-wide Zoom meeting, Bob Parsons announced he would not be making vaccines mandatory for the employees of his YAM Worldwide portfolio of companies, instead he is offering an incentive.

Globally, YAM Worldwide has more than 1,150 employees and each of them are eligible for a $1,000 bonus if they are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and receive a flu shot, according to a press release.

“We are lucky to have amazing employees throughout our companies, and we are committed to doing everything we can to help keep them healthy and happy,” said Parsons in the release.

“While vaccinations are by no means mandatory, they certainly are encouraged. And we could think of no better encouragement than a nice bonus for getting both.”

Known as the founder of GoDaddy, Parsons is the CEO and founder of 15 companies – under the YAM Worldwide umbrella – including PXG, Scottsdale National Golf Club, Harley-Davison of Scottsdale, SNEAKY BIG, YAM Properties, and The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, YAM Worldwide has made employee and customer health a main priority, starting a COVID Task Force and enacting safety protocols across all its businesses, the release said.

During the company meeting, Parsons shared with the team that he would never ask employees to do something he would not do and by early November he will be fully vaccinated, the release said of the company’s commitment to making the process of getting vaccinated as easy as possible.

The company has already held multiple private, COVID vaccination and flu shot clinics onsite at its YAM Worldwide facilities in Scottsdale.

Additional clinics are scheduled in upcoming months, the release said, adding Parsons will follow federal mandates if they become legal requirements, including weekly COVID tests for some employees who are not vaccinated, and will step up and help offset any cost.
