On Feb. 12, Paradise Valley’s Desert Foundation Auxiliary, held its annual meeting at the Paradise Valley Country Club.

Additionally, the 2020 board of directors were inducted and introduced to active and associate members who were in attendance at the annual meeting luncheon, according to a press release.

At the annual luncheon, two charities, ElderTLC and Gigi University were presented with checks as a benefit of the proceeds from the 2019 54th Desert Ball, according to a press release.

The new members to DFA were also introduced.

The five new members are joined by 55 active members, 130 associate members, of which 23 are lifetime status members --- having been a member in DFA for 35 consecutive years.

The new members are Mrs. Dwayne A. Douglas (Debbi), Mrs. Ron S. Garber (Lisa), Mrs. Alfred E. Hackbarth (Megan), Mrs. Robert M. Kort (Myndi), and Mrs. Scott A. Whyte (Elise).

Since its founding in 1965, DFA’s mission has been to select and present to the community young women from the Scottsdale Unified School District, City of Scottsdale and Towns of Paradise Valley and Carefree.

The 55th Desert Ball will be held Tuesday, Dec. 22, at The Phoenician. President Colleen Katz announced this year’s Ball Chair is Jill Hegardt and her Co-Chair is Jenny Ellis.

The Desert Ball will begin at 6:30 p.m. Attire includes formal gowns for women and black tie for men.
