Dembow: Support our Paradise Valley resorts!

Posted

Many of our residents don’t realize that Paradise Valley does not have a property tax.

The reason they miss this is easy, you pay property taxes on your home, but those taxes are Maricopa County, Arizona and usually a school or two, plus some “cat & dog” taxes that get tagged to your home.

The reason we don’t have a property tax is that we’ve been blessed with great stewardship over the decades. We don’t have retail or gas stations as a tax base, we have only our wonderful resorts and the amenities they offer. COVID has decimated the hospitality business. Our only industry is desperate for business.

Our resort industry has implemented best practices for cleanliness. They have specialized equipment to ensure that they are as safe as they can be for their guests, in-room, at the restaurants or in the spa.

I’m asking all of our residents to give your local resorts a try for your next meal, a round of golf, a spa experience, evening out or event.

Several are offering Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. Why not make it easy on yourself this holiday season and have the resort staff and top level chefs take care of your special meals? You’ll have left overs to bring home, and no kitchen to clean.

COVID has impacted the world. We have all felt the virus sting in different ways. They say, “Think globally, act locally.”

If each person reading this article goes to our resorts for a round of golf, spa treatment, meal or happy hour, it will make an impact.

While travel will comeback, it will take a while and our resorts don’t have the luxury of time.

Please help our only industry during these tough times.

If you need help with suggestions please go to the Town of Paradise Valley’s website and click on “Visiting” and you’ll see a list of our resorts, spa’s, golf courses, restaurants, bars and attractions.
