Dembow: Sometimes the only choice you have is a choice in attitude

Posted

We are going through something that society has not experienced since 1918. While the scope of loss of human life is horrific and the devastation to the economy is unprecedented we should not lose faith or hope.

I count my blessings, which are many.

My family and friends have their health and should that change we have the best health care in the world.

We are living in an age that we can isolate and still have a face-to-face conversation with a friend or loved one via a smartphone or tablet. We can hold meetings through video conferencing. You can order almost anything off the internet and have it delivered to your home.

The amount of information and entertainment that you can have electronically delivered to you at home is epic. Our children can attend classes online. These were not options a century ago.

Arizona is spread out, which means you can get out of your house and enjoy the beauty of our desert and still practice social distancing. Our desert is in bloom! Urban centers don’t have this option.

New York has been hit hard I would imagine because of the living conditions. To go to the grocery store, one has to walk in cramped hallways, to an elevator shared by many, then through the cramped lobby, to a grocery store that is the size of an average Paradise Valley home, with narrow aisles and thousands of people shop there every day.

This is a much different experience than ours.
While the situation is dire, this too shall pass. I’m counting my blessings and there are many.

Take care and God bless us all.
