Concerts at Christ Church continues Aug. 25

Christ Church of the Ascension's music director is Tigran Buniatyan. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in organ and harpsichord in Yerevan, Armenia and is now studying for his doctorate at Arizona State University.

Christ Church of the Ascension will host a free concert, “Walking with Bach,” 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25 in the main church, featuring CCA Music Director Tigran Buniatyan.
This concert will showcase the music of Bach, Dieterich Buxtehude, and other inspirational composers Bach encountered during his journey.
“In October of 1705, Bach asked for permission to leave his position as director of music in Arnstadt for four weeks to visit and to study with 68-year-old Dieterich Buxtehude, the renowned organist at St. Mary’s Church in Lübeck,” Tigran explained in a press release. “Bach traveled 450 miles on foot to attend a series of Buxtehude’s Advent concerts, and then ended up staying with him for four months.”
All are welcome to attend. Donations will benefit the CCA choir program and may be made at the door or at ccaaz.org/donate under the menu drop-down for music donation.
