Concerned with possible group home changes in Paradise Valley

Posted

OPINION - I am appalled at the Paradise Valley Town Council’s intention to reduce the occupancy levels for group homes.

In the October 15 issue of the Independent, Councilmember Julie Pace mentioned that group homes are having adverse impacts on residential neighborhoods. Please explain what these “adverse impacts” are.

Councilmember Anna Thomasson said that Paradise Valley is a single-family residential community. I live in an 86-unit condominium complex.  Are you opposed to that?

So, Christine LaBelle, my eyebrows are raised. Is Paradise Valley opposed to having aging and disabled individuals in this community? Where do you think such individuals should be housed? In case you haven’t heard, there is a critical shortage of affordable care options in the Valley.

Please respond to my questions.
