Bob Lee retires from Town of Paradise Valley
Posted
After a 15-year career with the Town of Paradise Valley, building safety manager and Fire Marshal Bob Lee has retired.
In addition to his years at the town, Lee spent a combined 15 years in Cave Creek, Prescott and Flagstaff. In 2018, he was named “Arizona Building Official of the Year” by Arizona Building Officials.
Prior to municipal work, Lee was a helicopter pilot for the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War. In 2019, the Independent reported that Lee was lauded as one of the youngest officers to serve in Vietnam at that time.
Lee served at least two tours in Vietnam, one of which he was the personal pilot for Gen. George S. Patton III.
After serving, Lee went on to get his degree in architecture, before ultimately going into the construction business and working his way up from a laborer to a foreman and a superintendent.
His work took him oversees to Saudi Arabia and the Philippines, before returning to Arizona, Independent archives state.
Now entering retirement, Lee and his wife Liza reportedly love to travel the world in search of new fine wines to try.
“Thank you, Bob, for your service and hard work,” Town Manager Jill Keimach said in her weekly emailed newsletter.
Chuck Ransom, who currently serves as plans examiner and building inspector, will step in as interim building official. Ransom has over 30 years of experience in municipal government including 15+ years as the building official in Litchfield Park, town officials say.
