Ballet Arizona, Phoenix Symphony to bring back classic ‘Swan Lake’

Ballet Arizona will present Ib Andersen’s “Swan Lake” at Symphony Hall in October.
“Swan Lake,” a quintessential ballet, is a passionate romantic tragedy that depicts the heartache and woe of two doomed lovers and the evil forces that come between them. Valley residents can experience the famous ballet known for its iconic white and black swans and Tchaikovsky’s music performed live by The Phoenix Symphony.
The production will run from Thursday, Oct. 24 through Sunday, Oct. 27.
“For more than 100 years ‘Swan Lake’ has remained a classic for many reasons,” Daniela Cardim, Ballet Arizona artistic director, shared in a press release. “It is a celebration of artistry and beauty in ballet, with its combination of storytelling, emotional expression, and skillful mastery of classical ballet technique—not to mention it’s set to one of the most beautiful music scores ever created.”
In addition, Ballet Arizona will present its Studio Spotlight performance for “Swan Lake” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at Ballet Arizona’s Dorrance Theater, at 2835 E. Washington St. During this add-on event, attendees can experience a behind-the-scenes look at this production through an in-studio rehearsal with the dancers, learn more about the production from Ballet Arizona’s artistic team, and engage in a Q&A.
