The Scottsdale Unified School District is gearing up for the Scottsdale Family ArtsFest ths weekend. The free event takes place 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 21, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22.

“This two-day event is so much more than a Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) activity: it is a true community collaboration between SUSD, Scottsdale Arts, the City of Scottsdale, Scottsdale Community Partners, ASU and other community-based organizations,” according to a press release announcing the event.

Students from 29 SUSD schools provide visual and performing arts while Scottsdale Arts provides family-friendly arts activities, the release continued. The city also offers interactive demonstrations of its various services, including the always-popular Water Department truck.

Scottsdale Community Partners will host its annual Alli Ortega Empty Bowls fundraiser during the event, with contributions from SUSD art students and local artists. Finally, ASU provides the setting, with the event taking place at the open courtyards of SkySong, located at 1201-1475 N. Scottsdale Rd.
