Arizona Masterworks Chorale presents: ‘Missa Kenya, Gospel and Spirituals’

Arizona Masterworks Chorale will perform “Missa Kenya, Gospel and Spirituals” at 3 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church on Sunday, March 15.

The Arizona Masterworks Chorale, since 1979, has earned a reputation as a premier adult choral performing group in the Arizona, according to a press release, describing the chorus of skilled musicians whose choral artistry ranges from Classical to Contemporary music.

The chorale’s director, Dr. Karen Parthun, is said to have a “very extensive and impressive background as a choral conductor and educator,” the release said.

Dr. Parthun, who has served on the faculty and conducted choirs at Arizona State University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis, also served as artistic director of the Arizona Arts Chorale, the Scottsdale Symphony Chorus, and the Roswell (NM) Civic Chorale.

The music director at Paradise Valley’s Ascension Lutheran Church has conducted orchestral concerts, and has extensive experience in church music, the release added.

General admission tickets are $15; students are $10 and children under 12 are free. Tickets are $20 at the door.
