Doctors and staff at Applewood Animal Hospital, 6909 E. Lincoln Dr. in Paradise Valley, recently donated protective supplies including masks and gloves to Phoenix Children’s Hospital for its medical staff.
In response to an urgent need for personal protective equipment at local hospitals, Applewood Animal Hospital provided four of its boxes of surgical masks and six boxes of examination gloves to Phoenix Children’s Hospital to help protect medical staff while battling COVID-19, according to a press release.
“Obviously everyone at Applewood loves animals, but sometimes people come first,” said Dr. Elizabeth Drummond, Applewood Animal Hospital medical director, in a prepared statement.
“To minimize potential exposure during this time we are not seeing pets for routine visits, just those needing medical care. This also allows us to free up some of the supplies we have on hand and we wanted to make sure they get put to good use.
There’s no better use than helping the health care providers on the front line of this pandemic.”
Applewood Animal Hospital opened in 2014 on the same property as Applewood Pet Resort in Paradise Valley the release said, adding that the staff includes three doctors who care for dogs and cats.
