Posted

Gary, 77, died peacefully in his home on January 9, 2020 in the presence of his beloved wife, Johanna, and his stepdaughter, Shanyn Champeau. He was born November 16, 1942 in Tacoma, Washington.

Dr. Fuller started his writing career working on a BA in Journalism at Whitworth University in Washington State, where he also worked part-time in the university public relations office. With articles published in over 25 newspapers and 5 magazines, he completed an internship with ABC News.

Changing career directions, Dr. Fuller served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a decorated Captain after 23 years. He worked as an Air Force Intelligence Officer, Security Specialist, NATO Air Liaison Officer and as an Air Traffic Controller. He helped write war game scenarios for several joint-service exercises, including simulations involving Iraq and Iran.

Following military service, Dr. Fuller traveled to several countries around the globe as Director of Worldwide Distribution for two major medical equipment manufacturers. He obtained his MBA and Ph.D. in Business Administration and was featured in International Who’s Who in Business Management.

Gary and Johanna Burton-Fuller fulfilled their mutual desire for travel and adventure, visiting such countries as Cuba, Mexico, Jamaica, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Croatia, Turkey, Greece, Hong Kong, China, Viet Nam, Singapore and Thailand. They also lived in Lake Chapala, Mexico, for several years where Gary served as the President of the Ajijic Rotary Chapter. While in Mexico he finished work on the first of his three published novels, focusing on action, romance, espionage and terrorism: Lethal Conspiracy; Homeland Conspiracy; and Diabolical Conspiracy.

While conducting research for his novels, he studied, “The Psychology of Terrorism,” an in-depth course by the American Psychotherapist Association. Other extensive research included multiple books, magazine articles, endless on-line references, and numerous Middle East newspapers as well as American and British newspapers. Several resources were first person interviews with government officials and individuals from the intelligence operations community, all of whom will remain anonymous.

Gary Fuller is remembered by his family and friends for his generous compassion, fullness of heart, deep love of life, his tender heartedness for his canine kids, Betty Boop and Mitzi and for his eternal love for his wife, Johanna.

A military service, “Celebration of Life” memorial is planned for Thursday, March 19th at 1:00 PM at Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ 85351.
