Burton Neil Bohn

Posted

Burton was born on March 22, 1926 in Pompey’s Pillar, Montana which was a homesteading area fairly close to Billings. His German father was Reinhard Wilhelm Bohn and his Swedish mother was Edna Eleanor (Berg) Bohn.
In 1943, Burt joined the Navy during World War II. He served on the aircraft carrier Manila Bay in the Pacific. Burt earned 1 star for the battle at Okinawa. He was discharged in 1946. Instead of returning to farming, Burt began his life’s career in power line construction. One such job took him through Salmon, Idaho where he met Jean Chipman. They were married on October 27, 1951.
Burt is survived by his wife of 70 years; 2 daughters, Ivie Olson and Tori Bohn; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
At 95 years of age, Burt’s congestive heart failure made it impossible to fight the COVID virus and he passed away at Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Arizona on January 14, 2021.
