Vegan Vietnamese-style iced coffee offered at Mesa’s Pair Coffee & Tea

Posted

Pair Coffee & Tea, a downtown Mesa coffee spot tucked inside a cidery taproom, is offering its take on a Vietnamese coffee.

Inspired by the Asian drink that is typically served hot, co-owner and barista Kimhak Em has created a drink that is refreshingly nuanced, iced and vegan, according to a release.

“Coffee in Vietnam is a blend of robusta and chickory. It’s a very dark and concentrated brew,” he explained in the release. “With the traditional drink, condensed milk mellows it out and gives it sweetness.”

For his variation, Mr. Em starts with an espresso made from one of Pair’s specialty roasts, then pours it over a blend of condensed coconut milk, oat milk and a bit of simple syrup.

Pair’s Vietnamese-style iced coffee is available through April for $5.50 and can be prepared with regular dairy milks or the vegan alternatives. Em says either option is nice to enjoy with a vegan pastry from Sugarloaf Lane Bakery.

Pair serves its coffees and artisanal teas daily inside the Cider Corps taproom in Downtown Mesa. Find Pair at 31 S. Robson St. No. 103, online at PairCupworks.com and on Instagram @pair.cupworks.
