Eastbound US 60 will be closed for the weekend beginning Friday night between Loop 202 and Crismon Road in east Mesa, state transportation officials said.
It is one of three projects that will affect Valley travel this weekend.
The Mesa pavement improvement work will require the closure from 9 p.m. Feb. 9 until 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
In addition, the eastbound US 60 on-ramp at Power Road will be closed as will Loop 202 ramps to eastbound US 60.
ADOT officials said drivers should use alternate routes including eastbound Baseline Road or Southern Avenue to travel beyond the closure.
Other weekend work:
The westbound I-10 ramp to eastbound US 60 will be closed along with the westbound I-10 on-ramp at Baseline Road. The westbound US 60 HOV ramp to westbound I-10 also will be closed.
Detour: Westbound I-10 drivers can reach eastbound US 60 by exiting I-10 at Broadway Road and turning to enter eastbound I-10. Note: The eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Baseline Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for bridge work. Consider exiting at Elliot Road.
Temporary closures of ramps in the area are possible. ADOT advises drivers to allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when entering and traveling through all work zones, watching for crews and equipment as they do.
Note: Plan on additional work and restrictions along westbound Loop 202 between Val Vista Drive and Dobson Road the week of Feb. 18-21.
Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other factors.
