“Selecting a Christmas tree from the Tonto National Forest is a cherished tradition for many families, while for others, it’s a new experience that may soon become a beloved tradition,” Timber Resource Specialist Michelle Williams of the Tonto National Forest said.

Starting Nov. 14, the Tonto National Forest will begin selling Christmas tree permits at https://www.recreation.gov/ and at the Supervisor’s Office, Globe and Payson Ranger Stations.
The Christmas tree cutting adventure begins on Nov. 23. Permits are priced at $15 and are valid through Dec. 31, 2024. Additionally, permits are available for free with an Every Kid Outdoors pass. For details about the Every Kid Outdoors program for fourth graders, visit the Every Kid Outdoors website at https://everykidoutdoors.gov/index.htm. Please note, Christmas tree permits purchased online, including the free Every Kid Outdoors permits, are charged a transaction fee when ordered through https://www.recreation.gov/.
