Tempe-based sculptor Zokaites to exhibit work at Mesa Arts Center

The works of Tempe-based sculptor Bobby Zokaites — renowned for his large, outdoor and often interactive artworks — will be at the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum’s Project Room May 12-Aug. 6.
Utilizing fabrication and assembly methods inspired by the industrial process, Zokaites creates his colorful structures from steel and paracord. In this installation, Zokaites hearkens back to the childhood notion of “play,” evoking a sense of joy, wonder and catharsis, according to a release.
The opening reception is 7-10 p.m. Friday, May 12, at the museum at Mesa Arts Center, 1 E. Main St. with the exhibiting artists in attendance, musical entertainment by Walt Richardson and friends, light refreshments and a cash bar. The reception is free and open to the public.
Free admission. The museum is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
