Queen Creek school district students learning about careers

Students throughout Queen Creek Unified School District are participating in numerous career exploration events and activities provided by their schools.

Some of these events include an invited guest speaker, career Q&A panels, college fairs and presentations, according to a release.

During the third quarter, all high schools are hosting career panel events, giving students the chance to ask questions about the guest speakers’ fields, ask for career advice, and make a game plan for after graduation.

Creed Ricks, a Crismon High School freshman, attended his school’s Career Day Expo and learned about where he can go to achieve his career goal.

“I learned about Embry-Riddle (Aeronautical University) and how I could go there to become a pilot,” said Ricks.

Isabela Merdrick-Lopez, also a freshman from Crismon High School, expressed how the expo taught her important lessons she can start using today.

“In one of the presentations, they talked about how you need a good life and work balance, and that’s important for any job or even school,” said Lopez.

Career Day events will continue throughout the remainder of the school year.
