For the past 10 years Mountain View Lutheran Church is privileged to be a member of a coalition of churches in the Apache Junction area banded together for the common purpose of aiding the less fortunate by supporting The Genesis Project.
This project has given Mountain View Lutheran Church volunteers the opportunity to willingly and unselfishly give of their time, cooking skills and fellowship to countless members of our community who are less-fortunate and in need of assistance.
The support provided by Mountain View Lutheran Church does not end with the one day a week opportunity to cook and serve between 100 to 150 meals. Over the 10-year association with The Genesis Project, Mountain View Lutheran Church volunteers have provided donations of food, clothing, shoes and toiletries, offering a clear path to self-sufficiency through hand-ups rather than hand-outs.
The Genesis Project, in addition, has been blessed with donations of food and other provisions from local businesses plus private donations.
Matthew 25:35-40 states, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
