Mesa police take 200 pounds of meth off street

Posted

A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged with possessing and transporting approximately 200 pounds of methamphetamine, Mesa police said.

Just before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21, authorities said Eric Leon, 36, was stopped for speeding in Phoenix.

Police said he had two Mesa city warrants and was taken into custody.

A tow truck picked up the suspect’s vehicle and during a search, Mesa officers found “two large duffel bags and two cardboard boxes loaded with approximately 200 pounds” of plastic bags filled with methamphetamine, police said.

Leon was held on a $151,500 bond on charges, including possessing and transporting drugs.
