INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a killing that occurred Saturday in the 100 block of North Lesueur, Mesa police said Sunday.
Antonio Marquez-Mora has been booked into jail on one count of second-degree murder, police said.
At about 4:45 a.m. Aug. 24, police received a 911 call from a person who said a man was possibly having a seizure.
Fire and police personnel responded and, as triage began, an apparent gunshot wound was found on the victim. The man, who police have not identified, died at the scene.
Officers secured the area and began gathering information from witnesses. They learned that Marquez-Mora fled the scene, but witnesses were able to provide a detailed physical and clothing description, according to a release from the Mesa Police Department.
Authorities found Marquez-Mora in a nearby parking lot and detained him. Investigators later interviewed Marquez-Mora and said he admitted to the shooting, saying that it was accident. He was arrested after the interview.
