Meet Your Neighbor: Bagdasaryans own ‘The Burger Trolley’ food truck

Your Name: Carla Bagdasaryan

Business Name: The Burger Trolley.

Town/Neighborhood: Queen Creek/San Tan Heights.

Hours of operation: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.

Personal background highlights: I went on vacation to Israel and it changed my life. The way Israel changed my life was being able to see the places I read about in the Bible has been amazing. I saw the Sea of Galilee where Jesus walked on the water. I saw the Judean desert where Satan tempted Jesus. Jerusalem itself was incredible. That’s just to name a few.

Professional background highlights: Chef Vegen Bagdasaryan, husband and partner, was the executive chef at California Institute of Technology for 14 years.

What I do: I am my husband’s sous chef and hostess.

What I like most about doing business here: Lots of opportunity; the community is blowing up (so much new construction — homes and businesses).

Changes I’d like to see in this area: Better road design, another freeway. As much construction as there is, it’s also getting way too congested on the streets.

What am I promoting: The Burger Trolley food truck.

What I’m excited about and why: It’s been a dream of ours for close to 10 years and it’s also another way to bring awareness of the different modes of transportation. One of the goals is to be able to feed the homeless and underprivileged.

Favorite community cause and why: Feeding the homeless. I think it brings hope back into their lives.

When and why I started my business/employment here: As stated before — opportunity and we are about two weeks from the grand opening.

Where was before and why I left: Los Angeles and the cost of living was way too much for us.

My family: Vegen and I are married and have two grown children still living in LA.

My interests and hobbies: Dog fostering and wine tasting.

People who inspire me (and how): People who dare to take chances and leaps of faith.

My guiding philosophy: Glasses help me see better; reading the Bible every day helps me see what paths to take.

My advice to today’s youth: Don’t base your life on social media

More information on the new business: We will be serving burgers but we are not limiting our catering events to just that. The menu includes: The Trolley Burger, The Scarlet Burger, BBQ Pulled Pork Burger, Pimiento Cheese Burger, Falafel Burger, Portobello Mushroom Burger, Trolley Nachos or a bowl of Carla’s chili.
