Twenty-eight Mesa Community College student-athletes earned All-Academic honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association.
With only 10 of the 18 MCC squads eligible to be considered under NJCAA regulations for the 2020-21 year, four complete teams earned the recognition. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some MCC athletic teams did not compete during the 2020-21 season.
According to the 2020-21 NJCAA academic teams of the year website at njcaa.org/awards/academic_teams, Mesa Community College teams were:
Golf (men), 3.12 GPA;
Golf (women), 3.49 GPA;
Indoor track & field (women), 3.01 GPA; and
Volleyball (beach), 3.18 GPA.
“We are proud of the amazing work of our student-athletes during what was an unusually difficult year,” John Mulhern, MCC athletic director, said. “Excelling both on the field or court and in the classroom is not easy but our athletes remain dedicated to their studies year after year.”
Since the 2011-12 academic year 265 MCC student athletes have earned All-Academic honors from the NJCAA.
