Light-industrial rezoning approved at Mesquite, 202nd in east Mesa

Property on the southwest corner of Mesquite Street and 202nd Place in east Mesa has been rezoned to light industrial for a contractor yard with RV storage.

Rezoning the 1.94 acres from Rural-43 to I-2 industrial plan of development was approved unanimously by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors in a Jan. 13 public hearing consent agenda with other items.

Jessica Sarkissian of Upfront Planning n Entitlements LLC i the applicant; and Rusty and Allyson Lewellen are the owners.

The county’s planning and zoning commission on Dec. 10 voted unanimously to approve the Lewellen Industrial rezoning, with conditions including that the maximum building height be 40 feet; outdoor storage of products and materials may exceed the height of the enclosure, but they shall not exceed 12 feet; and stored vehicles and related shade structures may not exceed a height of 40 feet.

The contractor’s yard will allow the outdoor storage, service, and sales and rental of construction equipment and RV storage, according to a staff report to the planning and zoning commission.
