Home smart-tech trends for 2025

Posted

Smart home technology continues to evolve as the years pass and 2025 is no exception. This year expect to see an uptick in seamless integration between devices, higher efficiency and more enjoyable experiences using technology.

From appliances to televisions, sound systems and voice assistants here are a few smart home tech trends to look out for this year.

New-gen televisions

Televisions change every year, and it seems like a new set of letters comes out that makes a TV better than anything ever made before. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on a quality television. Yes, there are those high-end OLED and Micro LED displays that look amazing. These TV’s offer the highest quality picture available on the market today and may make you feel like you are standing in the Sahara Desert during a Planet Earth documentary. Most people don’t need that high of quality. Look for 4K and UHD (Ultra High-Definition) when purchasing a television that will last for years in your living room.

Many televisions on the market also provide voice-assistant technology and easy-to-use interfaces which are integrated with a few different systems. Roku, Samsung and Google are the most common of the integrated systems meaning they allow you to download applications like ESPN, Spectrum, HBO, Hulu, Netflix and more directly to your TV without another device. Choose a television that has the system you prefer to make it the easiest transition from your old TV to your new one. Do your research. A quick viewing of a few YouTube videos will help you decide which television is right for your home. When it comes to installation and setup, if you have no experience with this new technology or are even just a bit confused consider speaking with a professional to get your system set up how you like.

Smart appliances

Appliances in the home are becoming more technologically involved as each year passes. A toaster used to just toast bread. Now you can purchase one with a couple dozen settings to make sandwiches, make bagels, cook hot dogs and imagine that even make toast. These new smart kitchen appliances can be difficult to choose for the home. Washer and dryers are utilizing AI technology to create the best washer settings for your clothes to help reduce water waste and electricity waste. Refrigerators will now send you a text message letting you know you are out of milk. When purchasing these smart appliances, as with any technology, understand what you need and maybe a couple things you want when purchasing.

Energy efficiency is key when purchasing appliances as these machines use the most energy in your home outside of your HVAC system. Be prepared to spend a bit more on these devices but if they fit your lifestyle and can help you in the long run, they may be worth the investment.

Voice assistants

Smart home voice assistants have been around for a few years now. As time passes better technology comes out making these devices much more useful and intuitive. These devices now support multiple commands given at once and can better understand language better than ever before. AI-driven components in these devices allow for more common conversations, making them feel like you are talking to a real person rather than a robot.

Integration from these devices into home security systems, HVAC systems such as your thermostat, and even entertainment systems are much smoother and more efficient in modern voice assistant devices. Privacy, which should always be a key factor when purchasing any voice assistant device, is a larger feature in many of these new devices as more people are becoming aware of the need for security and privacy. Many voice assistant devices exist on the market so doing a little bit of research will help you choose the right one for your home.

Sound systems

Audio technology has been amping up their game over the past few years making better speakers and devices for the homeowner market. Spatial audio and enhanced sound calibration along with more dynamic listening experiences, whether for music, movies and even gaming have been high points this year when it comes to audio equipment. Smart speakers are incorporating high-quality components for less prices and allowing for multiroom audio that adapts to the space it is being played in.

Many of these systems integrate voice assistants and easy home connectedness making it more efficient when it comes to controlling your audio throughout your home than ever before. From music to television and even ambient sounds are controllable by just the sound of your voice. Choosing a sound system doesn’t have to be difficult. A quick search online or by speaking with a professional installer can help you choose what systems are right for your home and your needs.

As technology continues evolving homes this year will become more efficient, tailored to individual lifestyle choices and more connected than ever before. Whether you decide to upgrade a single device in the home or choose to go fully integrated with multiple devices there is a way to do it seamlessly and more efficiently.

As the trends evolve always look to the future and understand what you may need in a year or two from now so you can be best prepared when purchasing smart devices. If you decide to upgrade any devices in your home, it may be best to speak with a professional installer to get the most out of your new set up.
