Gathering of golden retrievers charitable event March 5 in Mesa

Posted

The third annual Gathering of Golden Retrievers is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. March 5 at Gene Autry Park, 4125 W. McKellips Road in Mesa.

This is the first year a charitable component has been added to the event, Renee Bellefeuille said in a release.

“I reached out to Dogs4Vets, a local organization which helps disabled veteran train their own dogs to become certified service dogs. I hope to collect donations of collars and slip leads since that is what they mentioned they always need. I think pairing charitable events with fun get-togethers is a great way to bring awareness to local organizations that do so much good,” she said.

Games, contests and prizes are planned.

Last year about 35 golden retrievers and their owners attended, Bellefeuille said.
