East Valley, Phoenix gas prices shoot up overnight

Gas prices in Phoenix and many East Valley cities jumped nearly 20 cents a gallon overnight, AAA Arizona reported

Most East Valley communities saw regular gas selling for an average of $4.45 on Tuesday, up from $4.27 on Monday, March 20, according to AAA.

Pump prices in Phoenix and Mesa, which AAA separates into a separate category, rose to $4.41 after averaging $4.24 on Monday.

Scottsdale’s increase was less severe, 11 cents, and reached $4.44 on Tuesday, AAA reported.

Prices in the West Valley rose to an average of $4.48, up from $4.27.

The statewide average hit $4.11, an increase of 12 cents from the day before. The national average is $3.43 per gallon.
