Downtown Mesa breweries win at 2024 Arizona Craft Beer Awards

The 2024 Arizona Craft Beer Awards awarded multiple Downtown Mesa breweries medals at this year’s competition.

A total of 35 judges poured through 225 beer entries from 53 breweries across the state, choosing elite beers in 19 categories.

Six medals were presented to the four Mesa breweries, according to a release.

“Downtown Mesa is home to several thriving breweries, and we always enjoy seeing them receive the recognition they deserve,” said Terry Madeksza, director at Downtown Mesa Association. “Our community is walkable which makes for the perfect brewery hop destination. These businesses often collaborate, so seeing them walk away with medals together was special.”

The Downtown Mesa winners include:

  • Oro Brewing Co. — Imperial IPA/Hazy/Juicy Gold Medal
  • 12 West Brewing — American Pale/Amber/Session IPA Gold Medal + West Coast IPA Gold Medal
  • Phantom Fox Beer Co. — German Pilsner/Lager Silver Medal
  • Pedal Haus Brewing — German Pilsner/Lager Bronze Medal + German Oktoberfest Bronze Medal

For the second year in a row, Oro Brewing Co. won gold in the Imperial IPA/Hazy/Juicy category for King Gus. This marks the seventh gold medal for Oro in the three years of ACBA competition, the most of any brewery in Arizona. The Mesa brewery has never won a silver or bronze at the Arizona Craft Beer Awards.
